Granting Process

The Grotta Fund for Senior Care of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest NJ supports programs and projects that impact, improve, enhance and enrich the quality of life for seniors living primarily in Essex, Union, Morris, Sussex and eastern Somerset County.  Through two grant cycles each year, the Fund accepts applications from local not-for-profit organizations serving the targeted communities in the areas specified in each cycle’s Request for Proposal.

Applicants are encouraged to call or email Renie Carniol, Director of Grotta, with questions regarding the application process.

 

2014 Spring Cycle

            Program Period:                         July 1, 2014- June 30, 2015

            Application Announcement:         March 12, 2014

            Application Deadline:                  May 12, 2014

            Notification:                               June 25, 2014

            Funding Request:                       Up to $25,000

2014 Fall Cycle

            Program Period:                         January 1, 2015- December 31, 2015

            Additional Details Will Be Determined and Announced in late summer 2014

 

 

Eligibility


Applications will be accepted from not-for-profit charitable organizations that:

   Are public charities classified as exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code

   Primarily serve Essex, Union, Morris, Sussex and eastern Somerset county residents

   Previous grantees must have complied with all reporting requirements and be in good standing before submitting another grant request.  Prior grantees that have outstanding final reports at the time of application submission must include a final or interim report, including a financial report

 

Restrictions

 

The Fund does not generally award grants to:

   Organizations which have received grants through the targeted or general grant program for the past three consecutive years, unless by special permission by the Director

The Fund does not award grants to:

   Individuals

   Endowments

   Private foundations and private operating foundations

 

Grant Guidelines

When applying for a grant, please note the following:

   Grants are awarded for a one-year period or less.

   Applications that do not contain all the requested information will likely be denied

   All applicants are expected to show strong program commitment by providing partial funding of the proposed program or in-kind support and/or encouraged to leverage the support received from other funders.
